Collection Reservation
- Date:2021/11/09
Owners of the library’s library passes can use the collection inquiry system to make reservations for library resources that are “available for borrowing.”
Relevant Regulations
- The number of library resources (including audio-visual resources) that can be reserved for each library pass is limited to 10 volumes (items).
- Only books that are “available for circulation outside of the library” can be reserved (resources that are marked as "limited to viewing within the library” will have to be viewed within the library)
- When multiple readers make reservations at the same time, the system will arrange the reservations in the order of the reservations.
- When the reserved resource has arrived at the library, the library will notify individuals and retain the resource for 5 days. Those who fail to complete the borrowing procedures on time will have their right to borrowing resources that time suspended. Accumulating a total of 5 suspensions for books (items) within half a year will result in suspension of the right to make reservations for 90 days.

Notification Method for the Arrival of Reserved Resources
The library offers multiple notification channels such as e-mail, mobile phone text message, and phone calls for notifying about the arrival of reserved library resources at the library.
- New readers applying for library passes can choose the notification method when applying for a library pass. For those who haven’t specified a notification method, e-mail will be used as the default notification method.
- Readers who already have library passes and want to inquire or change the notification method need to provide their name, library pass number (or national identification card number, family card account number) and apply by e-mail or phone.

- Those who have set e-mail as the notification method need to pay attention to see if their inbox has a spam filter function; if a letter sent by the library is mistakenly marked as spam and assigned to the spam box, it is recommended to use the mail filter rules/automatic mail categorization feature of the e-mail and set the subject to “NTL Library” to automatically categorize the library’s e-mails to the inbox to reduce accidental deletion or missed e-mails.
- Those who have set mobile phone text messages as the notification method need to pay attention to see if the phone number has already “Applied for Blocking Ad Texts.” Since the library’s text messages are sent in batches from a network platform, phone numbers that have already “Applied for Blocking Ad Texts” cannot receive text message notifications.
Timing of Notification for the Arrival of Reserved Resources
The notification for reserved resources is sent when the previous individual borrowing the resources has returned it to the library, and will notify the 1st reader according to their specified notification method.
Description of the Arrival Time of the Reserved Resources
- Resource Reservation – “1st in the queue, the due date is October 16th, 2016”: this means that the resource can be borrowed as soon as October 16th or 17th depending on the return date of the current individual borrowing the material (the resource can be borrowed earlier if the reader returns the book early, and borrowing may be delayed due to the overdue resources) (the borrowing date of the resource is the return date of the previous reader, not the due date)
- Resource Reservation – “6th in the queue, the due date is October 16th, 2016”: the 6th individual must wait for the first 5 readers to borrow and read the resource (the borrowing period is 30 days for each resource); readers will be notified after its return.
Inquiry of Queue Status of Reserved Library Resources
If readers want to learn about the reservation status, they can log in to the “Personal Borrowing Records” from the collection query system. In the reservation folder of the Personal Borrowing Records, the “Reservation Status” column notifies readers on the status of the queue, the due dates for the current borrowing individuals, and the deadlines for collecting library resources.
