Taiwan has started to attach more importance to the popularization of homeland (bentu) culture since the 1990s. Moreover, due to the successful educational reform in these 30 years, society has gradually become familiar with Taiwanese culture. Therefore, people expect that the Ministry of Education (MOE) can be more helpful in this field through systematic, long-term policies.
According to MOE’s program and policy of homeland education, the National Taiwan Library (NTL) established the Homeland Education Resource Center in 2021. The missions of this center are to enhance the integration and development of homeland education resources and support research of homeland education in Taiwan.
The center aims to collect and create electronic resources for the study and research of homeland education in Taiwan. Those resources contain a. Policies, programs, proposals, or action plans of homeland education, b. Lesson plans of homeland education, c. Recordings or images of teaching theories, methods, and activities about homeland education.
The center also wants to be the crucial platform for researchers, teachers, and life-long learners of homeland education.
