Guidelines for Using the Nursing (Pumping) Room in the National Taiwan Library

一、      In order to facilitate and encourage our librarians and readers to continue breastfeeding their infant children after childbirth while following the breastfeeding policies of the Executive Yuan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Act of Gender Equality in Employment, the Library has set up a nursing (pumping) room (hereinafter referred to as the nursing room) and stipulated the “Guidelines for Using the Nursing (Pumping) Room of the National Taiwan Library” (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines).

二、      Opening hours of the nursing room: the nursing room is opened in conjunction with the opening hours of the library, from Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 21:00.

三、      Service users: librarians and readers of the library who need to breastfeed.

四、      People who need to use the nursing room need to fill in the registration form at the service counter on the 1st Floor during opening hours to register for use. They can then lock the doors after entering the room, and hang an “in use” sign on the doorknob. When leaving the room, people should take their personal belongings with them, keep the environment clean, turn off the lights and air-conditioning, and go to the service counter on the 1st Floor to record the finishing time.

五、      The room has a sofa, a sink, a baby changing table, a refrigerator, and a water dispenser. Everything in the room is public property, and people should use it with care. People should bring their own supplies such as breast pumps, feeding bottles, ice buckets, and other baby products.

六、      Please keep the room clean during use so that others can continue to using it without difficulty. Breast milk can be pumped out and collected in this room, and stored in the refrigerator. People should then take the collected milk back with them upon leaving the library and refrain from leaving it in the refrigerator overnight. The refrigerator in this room is only for storing breast milk, and other items are not allowed. Please write the name and the collection time on the bottle being stored in the refrigerator. If it is discovered that breast milk was stored overnight or other irregular items were discovered in the refrigerator, the library has the right to dispose of these items.

七、      This room is used only for breastfeeding (pumping), and cannot be used for other purposes (e.g. eating, resting, or having private discussions). People who aren’t breastfeeding are not allowed to arbitrarily enter this room.

八、      If a user of the room violates the provisions in these Guidelines, the library has the right to cancel their right to using the room.

九、      These Guidelines are implemented after discussion and approval by the library affairs meeting.
